The identification, isolation and characterization of allergens is crucial for diagnosis and therapy of allergic disorders. The team focuses on the analysis of respiratory and food allergens from animal origin. A large panel of characterized fish and furry pet allergens became available during the past decade.

The use of single allergens in IgE-diagnosis allows to discriminate between a primary sensitization and cross-reactivity, a first step into personalized diagnosis and treatment. We are closely linked to the clinic through our partner, the National Service of Immuno-Allergology at CHL. The analysis of common allergen features helps to understand the allergic immune response and as a perspective, to develop strategies for patient immunotherapy.
